  • 9-hole team (of 4) Texas scramble

Competition Rules and Etiquette

Age Limits

To enter, you must be aged 55+ on the day of the competition. A team that fields an illegible player cannot win a team prize but eligible players can win individual prizes.

Tees

Yellow tees of the day for men. Ladies may play off the Red tees of the day.

Putts

All putts must be holed out – no gimmies!

Speed of Play

The timetable is tight so please play at a good pace. Some suggestions:

  • Play ready golf – as soon as one of the players is ready, they should take their shot rather than waiting for someone who has the honour or is nearer to the hole. Prioritise pace not etiquette.
  • If in doubt, play a provisional ball to save walking back after a fruitless search. If you do lose a ball and haven’t played a provisional, drop another ball on the fairway at the nearest location to where the ball went missing (but not nearer the hole) and take a 2-shot penalty.
  • In the stableford comp, pick up as soon as you have had too many shots to score on a hole

Morning 18 hole INDIVIDUAL stableford.

All players to mark an individual card. Normal stableford scoring off 95% handicap.

Morning 18 hole TEAM stableford.

Each team consist of 4 players. Team score – the best 3 stableford scores on each hole. The stableford team score will be calculated from the individual cards.

Nearest the Pin

On 4th, 7th, 10th & 16th. If your tee shot is closer than the position of the marker, write your name on the marker and place it exactly where your shot finished.

Straightest Drive (14th fairway)

If your tee shot is closer than the position of the marker, write your name on the marker and place it exactly where your shot finished.

Afternoon – 9 Hole Team Texas Scramble

Each team consists of 4 players. Your starting tee will be the same as for the morning round.

The team handicap will be (to one decimal point), 1/20th of the team’s combined full course handicap.

There must be a minimum of 2 drives selected for each team member.

After teeing off, one of the drives is chosen. The player whose shot has been chosen must not play the next shot. The remaining players each play their shots within 6 inches but not nearer the hole of the chosen shot. The shot selection and play process is repeated until the ball is holed out.

This is a medal round and you only have to record your gross score.

Teams and starting tees

The teams are listed below. Each team is assigned a number which corresponds to their starting tee. For example, Team 4A is the first team to start on hole number 4 and Team 4B is the second team to start from that hole. The same team numbers will be used to identify your table placing.
