2019 Season Overview

Believe it or not 2019 was the seventh year that Peripatos GS has been in existence in one form or another. In that time sixty plus golfers have played 17 courses, some just the once and others several times as they became firm favourites. I am not sure whether it is the breakfast or the course that has made Littlehampton one of the favourites.

During the season 28 players turned out. We welcomed two new members , Andrew Shilling and Mark Pyne, a third, Steve Knight almost made it but for his satnav failing him when travelling to Littlehampton.

Rod Minns decided 2019 was the year to retire from golf. So as not to be tempted back he has sold or given away his clubs, bag, etc.

On the last day there were 5 players within 7 points of the leader, John Slocombe. He was overtaken on the day by Martin Hodgson however John managed to better his worst score by 1.

Again the par competition saw a change on the last day, Adrian Hoar managing to improve his par 4 scores to pip Terry Deyoung.

John Slocombe was awarded the Slocombe Award for the most memorable moment of the season. Not a great memory as it was for consistently being unable to judge distance, i.e. hitting his ball among the group in front. Three incidents were noted at Petersfield and several others were cited as evidence from previous Peripatos days.

It was agreed that he should nominate and award the Slocombe award in 2020.
