2023

  • Rookwood

The schedule for 2023 is coming along. I am waiting to confirm some relatively minor details with a couple of clubs.

The dates and venues are in the Upcoming Events on the left of this page. As expected it has been a bit of a challenge to met the, budget of £40 or less and to be within an hours drive of Liphook. As you look through the venues I hope you will see that they are spread across the catchment area.

By the way, the time on Upcoming Events is the first tee time, allow 40-60 mins to get a coffee and find out which group you are in.

Puttenham, have withdrawn the August discount which we have been taking advantage of when we have visited. For us that would to be a 20% increase.

Cowdray, always has been a little pricey, for 2023 the cost would have been a minimum f £55 with the prizes.

Littlehampton, have introduced some changes that do not help. One, 16 players are required to be a society, two, they will apply a surcharge for numbers below 16, and three, the green fee has been increased by 15%.

Hence the venues are a little different. We return to Corhampton and Tylney Park and venture to the outskirts of London, Wimbledon Common. By all accounts a week day journey time from Liphook is just under the hour and the day’s play should be colourful. Rookwood, just popped out of nowhere. John Slocombe checked it out, he reckons it is okay. Ham Manor on the south cost looks as though it will be a good, well maintained course.

Lastly, where to have our last day at a sensible cost, how about Milford? Not everyone’s cup of tea but since the club sold off 3 holes for housing in 2019 the course has been altered. The 1st has been straightened and a short 2nd introduced. The 15th, 16th and 17th have all been reworked, although the 18th over the lake is still there!

As a general comment, we will need 12 players to ensure we are regarded as a society. That is not normally a problem but if 1 in 5 of us manage to introduce 1 active member to the society we will be fine. Keep mentioning Peripatos to your friends.

Roll on April!
