Rookwood 2023
Eighteen enthusiastic folk travelled to Rookwood GC near Horsham, all wondering just what the course would be like. We had a couple of extra players, Steve Luckhurst who travelled over from Kent, Phil Richards who plays at Petersfield and Andy Gibb visiting Charlie from Jersey. Lastly John Spiers returned after being away due to Covid and injury for 3 years.
The clubroom was a converted barn, coffee and the bacon rolls were nice, probably the best we have had for a while. In fact the food afterwards was value for money. The area outside the club house was in need of a good clean.
The course layout appealed to some not to others, it was flat, the fairways had mown grass in clods on them and the bunkers required weeding. Surprisingly there was some run on the fairways given they were not allowing buggies. It is a council owned course operated by Slinfold GC.
The rounds were competed an hour before the rain arrived.
The result is on Golf Genius. It is slightly different to that announced at Rookwood. I have been through the cards and noticed Steve L missed 2 points off his score therefore he was a clear 3rd. NOTE: Often in the past after putting the scores into my spreadsheet there is a slight alteration, a point here and a point there.
